CVR Partners is a growth-oriented limited partnership formed by CVR Energy, Inc. in June 2007 to own, operate and grow our nitrogen fertilizer business. Our nitrogen fertilizer manufacturing facility, which produces ammonia and urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) fertilizers, is located in Coffeyville, Kan. Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizers is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CVR Partners, and directly owns and operates the CVR Partners nitrogen fertilizer plant. In April 2011, CVR Partners was listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “UAN.”

Our facility, which is located adjacent to the refinery owned by CVR Energy, is the newest nitrogen fertilizer facility in North America. Construction began on this state-of-the-art nitrogen fertilizer facility in 1998. The initial build of the nitrogen fertilizer plant included shipping an existing gasification plant to Coffeyville piece by piece from the West Coast. A Texaco coal gasification plant, originally located in Cool Water, Calif., was disassembled, refurbished and its technology converted to be able to gasify petroleum coke instead of coal. It was then reassembled to form the heart of our nitrogen fertilizer operations. The plant, which is only fertilizer plant in North America that uses petroleum coke as opposed to natural gas as a feedstock, first began production in late 2000.

In 2011, Coffeyville Resources Nitrogen Fertilizers produced 116,800 tons of ammonia available for sale, and also produced 714,100 tons of UAN.
